Jose María Peral holds a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. He also holds a Master's in International Business Management from ICEX (Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade), a Master's in Integrated Security Management from UNED (National University of Distance Education), and a Master's in Public Administration and Institutional Leadership from the University of Vigo. Jose María began his career as a flight test engineer in the Eurofighter 2000 program at Airbus. In 2008, he joined the Spanish State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA), where he worked first as an inspector and later served for six years as Head of the Security and Facilitation Division. In 2014, he moved to the ICAO European Regional Office, where he worked as Aviation Security Technical Officer for the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC). There, he was responsible for the Common Evaluation Process (CEP) of security screening equipment and served as secretary to several AVSEC and FAL working groups. In 2018, Jose María joined the ICAO NACC Regional Office as Regional Aviation Security and Facilitation Specialist. He is currently responsible for security and facilitation programmes in the region and supports NAM and CAR States in implementing the Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) of Annex 9 and Annex 17.
