Marie-Claude Day holds an LL.L. and LL.B. from the University of Ottawa and is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario. She is a Senior Counsel and Team Lead with the Transport and Infrastructure Legal Services Unit of the Department of Justice Canada, where she oversees the Unit's legal practice related to aviation law. With more than 15 years of experience in regulatory and public law, she has developed recognized expertise in Canada's aviation legal framework, providing both advisory and litigation support to Transport Canada on complex aviation matters. Marie-Claude regularly advises Transport Canada on a broad range of legal and policy issues in the field of aeronautics, including regulatory design, compliance oversight, and enforcement. Her practice encompasses matters of aviation safety and security, as well as Canada's compliance with international civil aviation obligations. She provides strategic guidance on complex legal issues and her practice integrates legal, operational, and policy perspectives to support effective aviation governance and sound legislative and regulatory outcomes. As the Unit's subject-matter expert in aviation law, Marie-Claude plays a central role in advancing sound, legally-grounded regulatory policy within Transport Canada Civil Aviation. Through her work, she helps ensure that Canada's aviation framework remains effective, internationally aligned, and legally robust.
